Well, howdy folks! Let me tell ya ’bout this Big Diamond Speedway, you know, the one up there in them hills. It’s a dirt track, real bumpy and dusty, just the way I like it. Folks say it’s a 3/8 mile oval, whatever that means. All I know is them cars go ’round and ’round real fast!
Now, I ain’t got no fancy computer or nothin’, but I hear tell you can download somethin’ to see who’s racin’ and how they did. Some kinda “real-time lineups and results,” they call it. Sounds like somethin’ for them city slickers, but hey, if it helps ya know who won, I ain’t complainin’. They got this thing called “Big Diamond Raceway” too, seems like the same thing to me, but what do I know? I’m just an old woman.
Them folks that run the place, Jake and Jasmine somethin’-or-other, they put out a schedule, you know, like a list of when the racin’ is gonna be. They were a bit late this year, folks were gettin’ all riled up, but they got it done. Twenty-three weeks of racin’, can you believe it? That’s a whole lotta racin’!
Upcoming Races and Events
- I heard tell there was some big race with them “Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds” cars. Sounded fancy, cost ten dollars to get in, I think. That was back in June, though.
- Then there’s this “Trunk-or-Treat” thing comin’ up on October 31st at 5:00 PM. Don’t rightly know what that is, but it sounds like fun for the young’uns. Maybe they dress up and get candy from the cars? Who knows!
I tell ya, racin’ at Big Diamond Speedway is somethin’ else. The smell of the dirt, the roar of the engines, the cheers of the crowd… it gets your blood pumpin’. It ain’t for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. You gotta be tough to handle all that dust and noise. But it’s a good time, a real good time.
Now, I ain’t no expert on racin’, mind you. I just like watchin’ them cars go fast. Sometimes they crash, and that’s always a bit scary, but mostly they just zoom around and around. And the folks there, they’re good folks, always friendly and willin’ to chat. It’s a real community feelin’, you know?
If you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do on a weekend, I’d say head on up to Big Diamond Speedway. It ain’t fancy, but it’s fun. And it’s a whole lot better than sittin’ at home watchin’ that there television box. Get yourself a hot dog and a soda, find a spot in the stands, and enjoy the show. You won’t regret it.
And if you’re worried about gettin’ lost, don’t be. It’s up there in the hills of Minersville, just follow the signs. Or ask someone, folks around here are always happy to point you in the right direction. Just tell ’em you’re lookin’ for the speedway, they’ll know what you mean.
