Alright, let’s talk about them Warriors and their big fellas, the centers, over the last 10 years or so. You know, the big guys who rumble and tumble under the basket. Been watchin’ ’em play on that TV thingy, and I got some things to say, even if I don’t know all them fancy basketball words.

Now, them Warriors, they been a pretty good team, winnin’ championships and all. But sometimes, I scratch my head ’bout them centers. Seems like they ain’t always been the stars of the show, you know? I remember hearin’ somethin’ ’bout a fella named Marreese Speights. They said he scored the most points outta all the Warriors centers for a while there, back between 2009 and 2018. One point, they said. Just one! That don’t sound like a whole lot, does it? But I guess that’s how it was back then.
Then there was all that talk ’bout them Finals games against the Cavaliers. Every year, it seemed like they had different big guys battlin’ it out. Timofey Mozgov, Andrew Bogut, Festus Ezeli, Zaza Pachulia… all them names, hard to keep track! They said Pachulia was a steal for the team, cost ’em less than 3 million dollars or somethin’. Guess that’s good, savin’ money and all.
I also heard tell that way back when, basketball was all about the big men. Names like Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Wilt Chamberlain… they were giants, real powerhouses. But seems like things changed. The Warriors, they started winnin’ big with them fast fellas, shootin’ the ball from all over the place. The centers, well, they just kinda helped out, I guess.
- They say the Warriors won championships in 1947, 1956, 1975, 2015, 2017, and 2018. That’s a lot of winnin’, ain’t it?
- They moved around a bit too, started in Philadelphia way back when, then came to San Francisco, and now they’re Golden State. Fancy that.
- And I saw somewhere that centers played a whole bunch of games against the Warriors, like 290 games in the last 10 years. That’s a lot of bumpin’ and grindin’ under that basket.
One year, the Warriors were really, really good. Won somethin’ like 67 games and only lost 15. That was in 2014-15, they said. Musta been somethin’ to see! But even then, I don’t remember hearin’ much ’bout the center being the main man.
So, what I’m sayin’ is, them Warriors centers, they done their job, I reckon. Maybe they weren’t always the flashiest players, but they were there, helpin’ the team win. They battled them other big fellas, set screens, grabbed rebounds… all that important stuff that don’t always get the headlines. It’s a team thing, right? Everybody gotta do their part. And them centers, they did theirs, even if it wasn’t always pretty or loud.
Now, I ain’t no expert, just a woman watchin’ the games on TV. But I seen enough to know that basketball’s changed. Them little fellas runnin’ and gunnin’, that’s the thing now. But the big guys, they still matter. They gotta be strong, gotta be tough, gotta be willin’ to do the dirty work. And them Warriors centers, they done that, over the last 10 years and before. They done their part.

Golden State Warriors Centers History, that’s what they oughta call it. A story of big fellas doin’ their best, even if folks don’t always notice. They part of the team, part of the winnin’, and that’s what matters, right? That’s what I think, anyways.
