Alright, let’s talk about them Rams kickers, you know, the fellas who boot that ball through them yellow sticks. Folks keep jabberin’ about who’s the best ever, so I figured, why not, let’s yak about it a bit.

Now, I ain’t no fancy football expert, but I’ve seen my share of games, ya know, Sunday afternoons with the TV blarin’. And lemme tell ya, a good kicker, that’s important stuff. Game on the line, clock tickin’ down, it all comes down to that fella’s foot. That’s pressure, I tell ya!
So, who’s the best ever for the Rams? Well, that’s a tough one. They had a bunch of ‘em over the years. This team, they been around a long time, changed names and cities more times than I changed my apron, from Cleveland somethin’ somethin’ to Los Angeles, then St. Louis, then back to Los Angeles again. Confusin’, ain’t it?
Some folks, they like to talk about that “Greatest Show on Turf” team they had in St. Louis. Them boys, they could score, alright. Fast runners and quarterbacks who could throw that ball a mile. But they still needed a kicker, see? Someone to put them extra points up and kick them field goals when they got stuck.
- Now, I heard tell about some fellas from way back when, kickers who played before them fancy helmets and facemasks. They say those guys were tough, kicking in leather boots and probably dodging more than just the other team.
- Then there were the kickers in the middle years. Solid guys, some of ‘em. Not flashy, just got the job done. You know, the kind you don’t really notice ‘til they miss a big one. That’s when everyone starts hollerin’.
- And now, they got this new young fella, Joshua Karty. Heard he’s from some place called North Carolina, went to college at Stanford, somethin’ fancy like that. Seems like a nice boy. Kicks the ball pretty good too. Rams picked him up this year. Hope he sticks around, we need a good kicker, ya know.
But who’s the greatest? Like I said, it ain’t easy to say. Each one of them fellas, they had their moments, their ups and downs. Some could kick it a country mile, others were good in the clutch, you know, when the game was on the line. It’s like comparing apples and oranges, or maybe biscuits and cornbread, both good, just different.
You got these fellas runnin’ with the ball, like that Kyren Williams, real good player, gives the team a chance to score. And then there’s the charity stuff, them players givin’ money away to help folks, that’s nice too. They even nominate them fellas for awards, like that Cooper Kupp and that Tremayne Anchrum fella. But none of that matters if you don’t have a good kicker.
See, a good kicker, he’s more than just a foot. He’s gotta be calm, gotta be focused, gotta be able to handle the pressure. Thousands of folks watchin’, screamin’ and yellin’, and it’s all up to him. That’s why they get paid the big bucks, I reckon.

So, back to the question, who’s the best? I ain’t gonna give you a name, ‘cause I don’t think there’s just one. Each one of them kickers, they contributed somethin’ to the Rams, they helped the team win games. And that’s what matters, ain’t it? Winning.
From them old-timers to the young fella just startin’ out, they all deserve a pat on the back. Kicking ain’t easy, and they put their heart and soul into it. So, let’s just appreciate ‘em all, every last one of them Rams kickers, and hope they keep bootin’ that ball through them yellow sticks for years to come.
Maybe someday, that young Karty fella, maybe he’ll be the one they call the greatest. He’s got a strong leg, that’s for sure. But he’s gotta prove himself, gotta be consistent, gotta make those kicks when it counts. Time will tell, I guess. Time will tell.
