Okay, so I’ve been digging into the history of the Green Bay Packers, specifically their running backs. I wanted to see who the best were and how they stacked up over the years. So, I started by just looking up some of the names I recognized and some I didn’t.

First, I pulled up a list of guys who played in the 1990s. The names that showed up were Keith Woodside, Michael Haddix, Brent Fullwood, Darrell Thompson, and Vince Workman. I remembered a few of them, but honestly, I had to do some more searching to really get a feel for their stats and impact.
Then I remembered Eddie Lacy, who had some trouble with his weight while he was in the league. I did find out some more about him and that he played for Seattle after Green Bay. I found an interview where he talked about that stuff, which was pretty interesting and kinda sad.
Next, I started thinking about more recent players. When the Packers won the Super Bowl in 2010, Brandon Jackson and James Starks were their main guys. It seemed that Jackson did a lot of the heavy lifting, with Starks coming in and making big plays when it mattered most.
- I tried to find a list of the top 10 running backs in Packers history.
- This took a lot of time because everyone has different opinions, of course.
- But I kept seeing the name Ahman Green pop up.
Top 10 Running Backs
Turns out, this guy is at the top of the list for rushing yards in Packers history with a whopping 8,322! That’s a lot of yards. He also has 68 touchdowns, which puts him 5th overall in team history.
One thing I learned is that these lists can get pretty messy. They mix up different eras, different styles of play, and it’s hard to compare. But it was still cool to see how some of these guys really dominated. I spent a good chunk of my day going down this rabbit hole, and I feel like I’ve got a much better appreciation for the Packers’ history at running back.
It was fun to learn all this, maybe I’ll do another position next time.
