Okay, so the other day I was digging around for some old NFL stuff, specifically about the Pittsburgh Steelers cause, well, they’re the Steelers, right? I wanted to find their roster from the 1984 season. That was a pretty interesting year for them, so I figured it would be cool to see who was on the team back then.
First, I started by hitting up the usual spots like Pro Football Reference and some other sports history websites. I typed in “1984 Pittsburgh Steelers roster” and hoped for the best. Thankfully, I managed to find a pretty comprehensive list.
I started copying the info into a spreadsheet, but that was kind of boring, so I switched to a simple text file instead. The list was pretty long – lots of players from back in the day. I made sure to grab all the names, their positions, and jersey numbers. Also, I jotted down any other details I could find, like college or number of years in the league. It’s not always available, but it’s a nice touch when you can find it.

After compiling the roster, I went a bit further. I looked up some of the players individually. It was cool to see what some of these guys did after the 1984 season. Like, some went on to have great careers, others, not so much. Also, I checked out the Steelers’ record for that year and some of their key games. They didn’t win the Super Bowl, but they still had a decent season.
Overall, it was a fun little project. It’s always interesting to take a trip down memory lane, especially when it comes to sports. This 1984 Steelers roster is a great snapshot of an era in football that had some legendary players.
