Alright, listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about them Texans running backs, you know, the fellas carryin’ the ball. Been a whole bunch of ‘em since they started playin’ ball, way back when.

Now, the best one, everyone knows, that’s Arian Foster. That boy could run! He got more yards than anyone else, a whole heap of ‘em, like, 6,472 yards they say. That’s a lot of runnin’, I tell ya. He played from 2009 to 2015, and man, he was somethin’ else. Always movin’ them legs, hard to bring down. He got the most touchdowns too, more than any other Texans fella.
Then there’s Domanick Williams. He was good too, real good. But he didn’t play as long as Arian. Got somethin’ like 3,195 yards, which ain’t nothin’ to sneeze at, mind you. He was there early on, from 2003 to 2006, I think. Strong runner, that one.
After them, you got fellas like Lamar Miller. He ran for the Texans too, from 2016 to 2018. Got himself a good few yards, 2,934 of ‘em. Not as many as Arian or Domanick, but still, he helped the team. And then there’s Alfred Blue, played around the same time as Lamar, 2014 to 2018. He was alright, carried the ball when they needed him to.
You see, the Texans, they been playin’ since 2002. That’s a long time, lots of games, lots of runnin’ backs. Some good, some not so good. It ain’t easy, you know, runnin’ with all them big fellas tryin’ to tackle ya. Gotta be tough, gotta be quick.
- Arian Foster: The best, most yards, most touchdowns.
- Domanick Williams: Real good too, but didn’t play as long.
- Lamar Miller: Ran for a good few yards, helped the team.
- Alfred Blue: Alright, carried the ball when they needed him.
Now, they got this new fella, Joe Mixon. He just joined up recently, in 2024 I hear. Had a good game against the Colts, ran for a bunch of yards. Maybe he’ll be one of the good ones, who knows? Time will tell, I always say. Gotta see how he does over the long haul.
It’s interestin’ how things change, you know? The way they play the game, the kind of offenses they run. Some years they run the ball more, some years they pass it more. But you always need a good runnin’ back, that’s for sure. Someone who can get them tough yards, someone who can break tackles.

This whole runnin’ back thing, it’s important. You gotta have someone who can carry the ball, get first downs, score touchdowns. It ain’t just about throwin’ the ball all the time. Sometimes you gotta get down and dirty, run right through the middle of them fellas.
So, that’s the story of the Texans runnin’ backs, as best as I can tell ya. Arian Foster, the best of ‘em all. Domanick Williams, Lamar Miller, Alfred Blue, and now Joe Mixon. Lots of other fellas too, can’t remember all their names. But them’s the main ones, the ones who made a difference. And who knows, maybe this new fella, Joe Mixon, he’ll make his own mark. We’ll just have to wait and see.
The Texans history with running backs is like a long road, with some smooth parts and some bumpy parts. But that’s football, ain’t it? Ups and downs, wins and losses. But you always need a good runnin’ back, that’s the one thing that stays the same.
