Okay, so I’ve been meaning to write about this for a while now. I’ve been wearing cowboy boots for years, and I’ve tried a whole bunch of brands. Today, I wanna talk about two of the big names: Rios of Mercedes and Lucchese. I’ve worn both, and let me tell you, there’s a difference.

First off, I remember getting my first pair of Rios. It felt like a big deal, you know? Like I was joining some kind of club. They’re a Texas thing, apparently, which I didn’t even know at the time. Anyway, I picked them out at this store, and man, they were beautiful. The leather was this rich, dark brown, and they just felt solid. I wore those boots everywhere. I mean, I did everything in them. Working in the yard, going out to the bar, you name it. They were that kind of do everything boots.
Then, a few years later, I decided to try Lucchese. I’d heard a lot about them, and they were supposed to be top-notch. And yeah, they were nice, don’t get me wrong. But they felt different. More…refined? I don’t know. I just didn’t feel like I could beat them up the same way I did my Rios. I remember once I stepped in a puddle with my Lucchese boots, and I almost had a heart attack. With my Rios, I wouldn’t have even thought twice about it.
I’ve also noticed that my Rios have held up better over time. The leather has aged beautifully. It’s got this awesome patina now, like an old baseball glove. My Lucchese boots, on the other hand, they started to show wear a lot faster. The soles wore down quicker, and the leather started to crack in a couple of places. I was pretty bummed about that, especially considering how much they cost.
- Quality: Both are good, but Rios feels tougher.
- Style: Lucchese is more “fancy,” Rios is more “everyday.”
- Durability: My Rios have definitely lasted longer.
- Price: Both are expensive, but you get more bang for your buck with Rios, in my opinion.
Now, I’m not saying Lucchese boots are bad. They’re not. They’re just different. It really comes down to what you’re looking for. If you want something that’s gonna turn heads at a fancy event, then yeah, maybe Lucchese is the way to go. But if you want a pair of boots that you can actually live in, that you can wear every day without worrying about scuffing them up, then I’d say go with Rios. My experience is that they just get better with age, like those shared documents on the domain. It is important to manage those boots, just like people managing processes.
So yeah, that’s my two cents on Rios of Mercedes versus Lucchese. Like I said, I’ve worn both, and I’ve formed my own opinions. But hey, maybe you’ve had a different experience. If so, I’d love to hear about it!
My Personal Recommendation
For a daily driver, go with Rios. You won’t regret it.
