So, today I wanted to dive into something I’ve been digging into recently: the all-time best running backs for the Houston Texans. I’ve been a huge Texans fan since they kicked off, and I’ve always loved a good ground game. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love watching a powerful run that just plows through defenses?

I started by just listing out the names that popped into my head. You know, the guys who made you jump out of your seat. Arian Foster, obviously, was the first name on that list. Then I thought about Domanick Williams, Lamar Miller, and even some newer guys. It was a fun little trip down memory lane, just remembering those awesome plays.
Next, I got a bit more serious. I opened up my browser and started searching for stats. I figured the best way to really rank these guys was to look at their numbers. Total rushing yards, attempts, touchdowns, yards per carry – all that good stuff. I ended up on a bunch of different sports websites. Each one had slightly different numbers, but the overall picture was pretty clear.
- I created a simple spreadsheet to keep track of all the data.
- Column one: player’s name.
- Column two: the years they played for the Texans.
- Column three: total rushing yards.
- And so on… you get the idea.
It took a while to gather everything, but after a few hours, I had a pretty solid list. Then came the fun part – ranking them! This was tougher than I thought. Do you prioritize total yards? Or is yards per carry more important? What about touchdowns? I went back and forth on this for a while.
My Top Three
After a lot of internal debate, I finally came up with my top three, based mostly on the numbers but also a bit on my gut feeling:
First, no surprise here, is Arian Foster. The dude is a legend. I mean, 6,472 rushing yards and 54 touchdowns? Those are insane numbers. Plus, he was just so fun to watch. He had this smooth running style that made it look effortless.
Second, I went with Domanick Williams. He might not have the same eye-popping stats as Foster, but he was a workhorse. Over 40 games, he racked up over 3,195 rushing yards. He was the guy you could always count on to get those tough yards when you needed them.

Third, this one might be a bit controversial, but I’m going with Lamar Miller. He only played a few seasons with the Texans, but he put up some solid numbers, like 716 rushing yards in one season. He had a burst of speed that could really catch defenses off guard.
So, yeah, that’s my take on the best Texans running backs of all time. It’s just my opinion, of course. I’m sure other fans will have their own lists, and that’s part of the fun, right? We all have our favorite players and memories. At the end of the day, these guys all contributed to the team’s history, and as a fan, I appreciate every single one of them. It was a fun little project, and it made me even more excited for the upcoming season. Go Texans!
