Today, I was really into the whole NFL thing and got curious about the Rams’ quarterbacks. So, I decided to dig in and make a list. It was a slow Tuesday afternoon, and I had nothing better to do, so why not?
First, I checked out the Rams’ official announcement about their finalized roster. They posted it on August 27th. Pretty standard stuff, nothing out of the ordinary. I went through it to see if there was anything interesting. Just a regular update before their Week 1 game. Then I went to The Athletic. They had some interesting comments on each player. I read through it to see who is going to be a big player in the coming season.
Start to Make My List
- Matthew Stafford: Obviously, he’s the starter. No surprises there. He’s the big name, the guy everyone expects to see on the field.
Then there was this other guy, Bennett. Apparently, he made the team as Stafford’s backup. I found out he and Stafford both played for Georgia. That’s a fun little connection, I guess. Both from the same college, now on the same NFL team. I guess the Rams really liked what they saw in Georgia’s football program. They have two from the same university now. I noted down Bennett’s name just under Stafford’s. It’s always good to know who the backup is, just in case.
Next, I started looking into the guys who didn’t make the cut. I mean, it’s kind of a bummer for them, but it’s part of the game, right? There’s this guy, Boston Scott, who was the first one to be let go after the preseason. Tough luck for him. Another player, Evans, a sixth-round pick in 2023, was also released. He was on the practice squad, so he never really got a chance to shine on the main stage. Now he’s looking for a new team.
And then there’s Logan, who signed as an undrafted free agent on May 2. Not sure what happened with him, but he’s not on the final list either. Seems like he didn’t make it through. It must be tough, getting so close and then not making the cut.
My Finalized List
So, after going through all this, my Rams quarterbacks list is pretty straightforward:
- Matthew Stafford
- Bennett
It’s not a long list, but it’s the one that counts. These are the guys who’ll be under the spotlight for the Rams this season. I did a bit more digging around, looking at some old articles and stuff, just to get a better picture. It’s interesting to see how these things change over time, who comes and who goes. Anyway, that’s my little adventure for today. It wasn’t anything major, but it was fun to compile. I enjoy doing these little research projects in my spare time. I’ll be keeping an eye on these quarterbacks this season. It’ll be interesting to see how they perform.
