Today I’m diving into something that’s been on my mind for a while: the Green Bay Packers’ running backs throughout history. It’s a topic that I’ve found myself going back to over and over again, so I figured, why not make a proper record of it?

First, I started with some basic research. I mean, I’m a Packers fan, but even I don’t know every single detail by heart. I just grabbed some general info online about the Packers’ all-time rushing leaders. It was interesting to see some names I recognized and others that were from way before my time.
After getting a general overview, I decided to create a list. I wanted to rank these guys based on their total rushing yards while playing for the Packers. So I started gathering data. I made a simple table and started filling it in.
- Ahman Green
- Jim Taylor
- …and so on…
Seeing the numbers laid out like that was pretty cool. Ahman Green is at the top, which I knew, but seeing the actual yardage (8,322!) is something else. And right behind him is Jim Taylor with 8,207 yards. Those are some serious numbers.
Then I got a bit sidetracked, as I usually do. I stumbled upon some stuff about Eddie Lacy and his… let’s call it “fluctuating” weight. People online can be brutal, calling him “Feastmode” and whatnot. It’s a bit harsh, but it’s part of the game, I guess. He didn’t make it to my top rushing yards list but it was an interesting find.
I also found a list of running backs from the 1990 team – Keith Woodside, Michael Haddix, and Brent Fullwood. I don’t remember much about them, to be honest, but it’s fun to see those names and think about what the team was like back then.
In the end, I managed to compile a pretty decent list of the top 25 Packers running backs based on rushing yards. It was a fun little project, and it reminded me why I love this team so much. There’s so much history there, and it’s always a good time to look back and appreciate the players who made the Packers what they are today.

Well I will share my list next time, so stay tuned!
