My oh my, this here Dota thing, it’s all the young’uns are yappin’ about these days. Heard tell it’s some kinda game on that computin’ machine. They say some fellers are real good at it, like, the best there is. Let me tell ya what I heard, mind ya, it’s all just gossip from them youngsters.

Folks keep blabberin’ ’bout a fella named Ghost. Said he’s from over in China, and he’s real clever with them buttons and such. They say he’s “consistent,” whatever that means. Sounds like he don’t mess up much, kinda like old Bessie, my milk cow, always givin’ milk, rain or shine. He’s also real “versatile”, they say. Sounds like he can do a lot of different things. Handy, I reckon, like a good ol’ pocketknife.
Then there’s this Yatoro fella. Them young’uns say he’s the best, the tippy-top, the cream of the crop. They call him “crazy,” like a fox in a henhouse, I guess. He plays the “carry” role. Now, I don’t know nothin’ ’bout carryin’ in a game, but I reckon it’s important, like haulin’ water from the well, gotta keep everyone goin’. And wouldn’t you know it, he’s won two of them big tournaments, the “TI’s” they call ‘em. Sounds like he’s a real champion, like my prize-winning pumpkin at the county fair.
They also talk about some other fellas, like Skitter and Pakaz. Don’t know much ’bout them, but they must be pretty good if they’re gettin’ mentioned alongside Yatoro and Ghost. It’s like them prize bulls at the livestock show, always a few contenders for the blue ribbon.
- The Carry fellas: Seems like this “carry” role is a big deal. They say some heroes, like Slark I think they called him, are real good at carryin’. This Slark fella, he gets stronger and stronger, like a weed in the garden, just keeps on growin’. He steals “agi” whatever that is, maybe it’s like stealin’ eggs from the neighbor’s hen house. And he can see things others can’t, like a sneaky cat in the night. Handy, I tell ya, real handy.
- The Best of the Best: It’s hard to keep track of all these names, but it seems like everyone agrees Yatoro is the top dog right now. They say he’s dedicated, like a dog with a bone. And they fear him, like a mouse fears a hawk. That’s saying something, I reckon.
They also talk about this other fella, Ana. Said he was one of the greats, like a legend from the old days. Guess he ain’t playin’ no more, kinda like old Mr. Johnson who used to play the fiddle at the town square dances, he retired his bow some years back.
This Dota 2 game, it seems complicated, with all these heroes and roles and whatnot. But it’s like life, I reckon, some folks are good at some things, others are good at other things. And some, like this Yatoro fella, they’re just plain good at everything. They even talk about levels, like my grandbabies’ growin’ taller every year. This here Void character, they say he just keeps gettin’ stronger and stronger, even up to level 30! Reminds me of my old rooster, he got meaner with every year he lived. And they give him special items, like a “Scepter” and a “Shard”, must be like givin’ a good horse a new set of shoes.
It’s funny how these young’uns get so worked up about this game. They sit there starin’ at that screen, clickin’ and tappin’ away. But I guess it’s their way of havin’ fun, just like we used to have fun with square dances and county fairs. Times change, I reckon, but folks always find a way to entertain themselves. And from what I hear, this Dota 2 game, it’s got plenty of entertainment to go around. And these fellas, Ghost, Yatoro, Skitter, Pakaz, and even old Ana, they’re the stars of the show, like them actors in them picture shows at the town hall. They’re the ones the young’uns look up to, the ones they cheer for, the ones they dream of being. It’s a whole different world, I tell ya, but it ain’t so different from our own, when you get right down to it.

So that’s what I know ‘bout this here mmy dota. Not much, I admit, but enough to know it’s a big deal for them young’uns. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll even sit down and watch ’em play. Might learn a thing or two, or at least get a good laugh watchin’ them get all riled up. Life’s too short to be serious all the time, I always say. Might as well have a little fun, even if it’s just watchin’ folks play a computin’ game. That’s what I think anyways.
