So, I’ve been digging into some old NBA stuff, specifically the Mavericks’ roster from back in 2013. It’s kinda wild looking back at that team, and I wanted to share my little journey through the data with you all.
First off, I started by just trying to get a general feel for the team’s performance that year. What I found was that the Mavs were pretty average, finishing with a 41-41 record. They landed 4th in the Southwest Division and 10th in the Western Conference. Not exactly championship material, but they were hanging in there.

It had all the basic stuff like jersey numbers, positions, heights, birthdays, and even where they were drafted. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but I managed to organize it all in a spreadsheet. The Mavs weren’t a top-tier team that year.
After that, I wanted to see if any familiar names popped up. Of course, Dirk Nowitzki was there, having been with the Mavericks since 1998. His name was everywhere, given that he was the longest-serving player for the team. The stats showed that he was still a major force, even though he wasn’t in his prime anymore. And I noticed Olivier-Maxence Prosper on that roster list.
