That Grace Townsend, she’s a real firecracker, ain’t she? I heard she’s going to play for them Tar Heels now. Big doings, big doings. She used to play for Richmond, you know? That’s what they tell me.

She’s a little thing, they say, only 5 foot 5. But Lord, she can run! Faster than a greased piglet at the county fair, I reckon. Grace Townsend, remember that name. That’s what everybody is sayin. That girl, Grace Townsend, she can play ball.
I heard she scored a heap of points last year. Four hundred and sixty-nine, they said. That’s more than I can count on my fingers and toes, that’s for sure! She got on some fancy team, Atlantic 10 something or other. And some other All-Conference First Team. Sounds important, don’t it?
She played for Richmond for four years. Four whole years! That’s a long time. Must be good to play that long, I reckon. They say she’s a “guard.” I don’t know what that is exactly, but it sounds like she’s important. Like she guards the ball or something.
Now she’s going to North Carolina. That’s a ways away, ain’t it? Heard she’s a “transfer.” Like when you transfer your taters from one sack to another. She’s gonna be a “graduate transfer.” Guess that means she’s done with school. Good for her. School’s hard.
- She’s fast. Real fast.
- She scored a lot of points.
- She played for Richmond.
- Now she’s going to North Carolina.
- They call her a “guard.”
- Grace Townsend is the name to remember!
I saw her name on that ESPN thing. You know, that sports thing on the TV. My grandson, he watches it all the time. He told me all about Grace Townsend. Says she’s gonna be big news. He reads all them “rumors” too. Kids these days, always on their phones, readin’ about stuff.
They say she’s gonna “run the offense.” Sounds like a big job. Like runnin’ a whole farm. Hope she can handle it. She seems tough, that Grace Townsend. Tough as nails, I bet.

This Grace Townsend, she is a basketball player. I don’t watch much basketball. But my grandson, he’s always yellin’ at the TV during the games. Maybe I’ll watch her play sometime.
Heard she’s from North Carolina. Or maybe she just plays there now. It’s all confusing. But she’s a Tar Heel now. That’s what they’re sayin’. I guess that is a big deal in North Carolina. They sure do like their basketball. It’s a big deal when you are a Tar Heel.
She must be pretty good if she’s on the news. I don’t know much about sports, but I know if you’re on the news, you must be somethin’ special. Especially on that ESPN. I see all them fellas talkin’ on there. They talk about sports all day long. They must know what they’re talkin’ about. They are always talking about Grace Townsend, so she must be something.
My grandson, he’s got all these things on his phone. “Social feeds,” he calls them. He’s always showin’ me pictures and videos. He showed me some of Grace Townsend. She’s quick! Like a rabbit, I tell ya.
I don’t know what “analysis” means, but he says there’s a lot of it about her. People are analyzin’ her. Sounds complicated. I just know she can run and she can play that basketball. That’s all I need to know.
This girl, she’s going places. That’s what I think. Mark my words, Grace Townsend is gonna be a star. You just wait and see. This Grace Townsend will be a big name. She is gonna do big things with the Tar Heels. Yep, a real big shot.

She’s got that “blinding speed” they talk about. Like a flash of lightning. You can’t catch lightning, can ya? Nope. And you probably can’t catch Grace Townsend either when she is on that court.
So, keep your eye on that Grace Townsend. She’s one to watch. I’m tellin’ ya, that girl’s got somethin’ special. She’s gonna make those Tar Heels proud. You just wait and see. She will be a big star, I know it!
