Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another one of my “experiments.” So, the other day I was thinking about how many basketball players from my home state, Arkansas, made it to the big leagues, the NBA. I got curious and decided to dig in. Let me tell you, it turned into quite the rabbit hole!

First, I started by hitting up Google. You know, the usual “Arkansas players in NBA” search. Right off the bat, I found this one site that had a list of around 40-something guys. It even showed their positions, heights, and weights. Interesting, right? But I wanted more than just stats.
Next, I stumbled upon Wikimedia Commons. That place has everything! I found a whole category dedicated to basketball players from Arkansas. It’s a huge list, I’m talking about over a hundred names. I started clicking through, reading up on different players and their stories. There were some familiar names, but a lot of them were new to me.
Then I found an article about the “Triplets” from Arkansas who made it to the Final Four back in ’78. Apparently, one of them became a pretty big deal in the NBA. This got me thinking about the history of Arkansas basketball and how it’s connected to the NBA. I went down another path, looking up past teams and their achievements. Turns out, Arkansas has made it to the Final Four six times! That’s a pretty big deal if you ask me.
I kept digging, and I found another site that listed players who made it to the NBA, ABA, or even the WNBA. Some were marked as Hall of Famers. It was cool to see the different paths these players took. Some went straight to the NBA, others played in other leagues first. The site even had these little notes about freshman team stats, which was a nice touch.
What I Learned
After spending hours on this, I realized a few things:
- Arkansas has produced a lot of talented basketball players. Seriously, the list is way longer than I expected.
- There are different paths to the pros. Some players were drafted right out of college, others took different routes.
- Arkansas basketball has a rich history. They’ve been a powerhouse for decades, and it’s cool to see how that’s translated into the NBA.
Honestly, this whole thing started as a simple question and turned into a full-blown research project. But it was fun, and I learned a lot about my state’s basketball legacy. If you’re from Arkansas or just a basketball fan, I definitely recommend doing a little digging yourself. You might be surprised by what you find!

Alright, that’s it for this one. Catch you guys later!
