Well, let me tell ya, those Atlanta Falcons, they’ve had some fellas runnin’ that ball. Strong fellas, fast fellas. They ain’t won no Super Bowl, bless their hearts, but they sure had some good runners.
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I seen ’em play. Lord, I have seen ’em play! And I got some names for ya, some of the best to ever put on that Falcons uniform. These are the top former Atlanta Falcons running backs.
First one that comes to mind, that Gerald Riggs. That man, he was somethin’ else. Played back in the old days, but folks still talk about him. He’s the top dog, got the most yards, over 6,600 they say. That’s a lot of runnin’, I tell ya what. He’s the best former Atlanta Falcons running back. A real strong runner, that one.
Then there’s that Michael Turner fella. They called him “The Burner”. He could really fly! Came to the Falcons after playin’ second fiddle somewhere else. Boy, did he show ’em! Ran for almost 1,700 yards his first year! Got 17 touchdowns, too. A touchdown is when they get the ball all the way to the end, ya know. Good for him. He’s number two on the list, just behind Riggs, with over 6,000 yards. That’s a heap of yards, I tell ya!
I remember another one, William Andrews. Played back in the ’79 to ’86, I reckon. He was a good one, too. Started off with a bang, they say. Ran for a whole bunch of yards in his first game, over 167! And he kept on runnin’. Almost 6,000 yards in his whole time playin’. That’s a lot of running for a fella. He was a good one.

Now, there’s been others, too. I seen a whole list of ’em somewhere. Lots of names, more than I can remember. They all played for the Atlanta Falcons, though. Every last one of ’em. The team’s been around since ’65, you know. That’s a long time. Long time to have some good runners.

Folks round here, they love their football. And they love them Atlanta Falcons, even if they ain’t never won that big one. They still got great players. Especially them running backs.
