This Fiona Crawley, she’s somethin’ else, ain’t she? I seen her name all over the place, playin’ that tennis game. They say she’s good, real good. She won some big ol’ match the other day, took almost three hours! Can you imagine? Playin’ tennis for three hours? My old bones would give out in ten minutes.
They call her the “Star of the Day” or somethin’. Fiona Crawley, Fiona Crawley, Fiona Crawley, that’s all I hear! She must be somethin’ special to get all that attention. I reckon she’s makin’ a name for herself out there, hittin’ that little ball back and forth.
She’s playin’ in them big tournaments, too. They call ’em “Grand Slams” or somethin’ fancy like that. I don’t know much about that tennis, but I know it’s a big deal. Folks watchin’ all over the world, I guess. And this Fiona Crawley, she’s right in the middle of it. She must be one tough cookie, that’s for sure.

I seen her name on that there computer, somethin’ called “Flashscore.” Shows all her scores and who she’s playin’ against. Lots of numbers and such. Don’t make much sense to me, but I guess it’s important for them tennis folks. They got all kinds of records, too. Keep track of everything! Like how many times she won. I guess you gotta be good to win. And this Fiona, she’s got some wins under her belt, you bet.
She even played against some big-shot player, name of Anastasia somethin’. Long name, that one. Don’t know how they keep all them names straight. Anyway, that Anastasia, she’s supposed to be real good, too. But our Fiona Crawley, she held her own, I hear. Played her tough. That’s what I like to see. A good, hard fight.
They say she went to college, too. Played tennis there. But they don’t pay ’em in college, you know. Can you believe that? Playin’ your heart out, and not gettin’ a dime. Seems a bit unfair to me. But I guess that’s how it is. They got some big group, somethin’ called the “governing body,” that makes all the rules. Lots of rules in that game, I reckon.
This Fiona Crawley, she’s got folks talkin’, that’s for sure. Everywhere you look, there’s somethin’ about her. “Fiona Crawley news,” “Fiona Crawley updates,” “Fiona Crawley rumors.” Sounds like Hollywood gossip to me! But I guess that’s what happens when you’re good at somethin’. Everyone wants to know what you’re up to. She must be quite the athlete. It’s a lot of work, i reckon, playing tennis all the time. Gotta stay in shape, eat right, practice all day long. It ain’t easy, that’s for sure.
She’s gonna be a big star, that Fiona Crawley. I can feel it in my bones. Just you wait and see. She got that fire in her, I can tell. She’s gonna go far. And when she does, I’ll be right here, watchin’ her on that there computer screen, cheerin’ her on. You go, Fiona! You show ’em what you’re made of!

I remember one time, back when I was a young girl, we played ball. But we didn’t have none of these fancy rackets and equipment. We made our own stuff. And we played in the field, not on some fancy court. It was fun though, just runnin’ around, laughin’ and playin’. I guess this Fiona Crawley, she gets to have fun playin’ her game, too. Even if it is a lot of work. I bet she loves it, though. You gotta love it to be that good. It’s good she’s doin’ what she loves. I hope she makes a lot of money one day, she deserves it. She’s workin’ hard, that’s for sure. I hope someone’s keepin’ her fed, too. She needs her strength to play that game. Maybe some good ol’ chicken and dumplings. That’s what I’d eat if I was playin’ tennis. But she’s probably got some special diet, I reckon. All them athletes do nowadays.
Well, I’ll be keepin’ an eye on that Fiona Crawley. Seein’ what she’s up to. She’s a good one, that girl. A real go-getter. I like that. She’s got spirit. And that’s what it takes to make it in this world. Spirit and hard work. And a little bit of luck, too, I guess. But this Fiona, she seems to be makin’ her own luck. Good for her. I bet her mama’s proud. I sure would be.
