So, I got this idea to make a list of former 49er players. Sounds simple, right? Well, let me tell you, it turned into a bit of a rabbit hole, but a fun one!

Getting Started
First, I fired up my trusty search engine. I figured I’d start broad and then narrow things down. I just typed in “ex 49er players” and hit enter.
The Information Onslaught
Man, oh man, did I get a lot of hits! We’re talking websites, articles, lists, you name it. It was a little overwhelming at first. So many names, so many years! I quickly realized I needed a way to keep track of everything.
I grab a paper, and I jot down names that popped up repeatedly or seemed particularly interesting. I figured that was a good way to start building a core list.
Digging Deeper
Once I had a rough list, I started looking into individual players. I wanted to know more than just their names – I wanted to see what years they played, maybe some key stats, and what they were up to now.
- I spent time reading, making notes. It felt like detective work, piecing together little bits of information from different sources.
- It was actually pretty cool to see how many players had gone on to do different things – coaching, broadcasting, even starting businesses.
Putting It All Together
Finally, after all that searching and note-taking, I had a pretty solid list. It wasn’t exhaustive, of course, but it was a good representation of some memorable ex-49er players. And I learned a lot about this team.

It’s amazing how a simple idea can turn into such a fun learning experience. Maybe I’ll turn this into a series and tackle other teams next!
