Well, let me tell ya, this EVO 2024 thing, it was HUGE! Bigger than any fightin’ game thingy they ever had before, that’s what they’re sayin’. Folks were watchin’ it like crazy, hours and hours of it. They say somethin’ like 7.9 million hours watched. That’s a whole lotta watchin’, I tell ya. I don’t even know how many days that is, but it’s gotta be a lot.

Street Fighter 6, that was the big one. Everybody and their brother was playin’ it, or watchin’ it, I guess. More than half the folks there were just for that game. Can you believe it? Thousands and thousands of ’em, smackin’ buttons and whatnot. They say over 5,000 people signed up just for Street Fighter 6. Though, some folks say last year was even bigger for Street Fighter, go figure.
But it wasn’t just Street Fighter, no sir. There was this Tekken, and that Guilty Gear thing too. Those were big too, breakin’ records all over the place. I don’t know nothin’ about them games, but folks seemed to like ’em. Lots of people watchin’ those too, so they must be somethin’ special.
They had all sorts of games, eight of ’em, I think. People were watchin’ for more than 154 hours, that’s what I heard. All that smackin’ and jumpin’ on the screen. I tried watchin’ some, but all that flashin’ and bangin’ made my head spin. Young folks these days, they sure like that kinda stuff.
This year was way bigger than the one two years ago, they say. Almost half again as many people watchin’. Maybe it’s that new Street Fighter game, or maybe folks just got nothin’ better to do these days. Either way, it’s a whole lotta eyeballs on them fightin’ games.
And get this, over 10,000 people actually went there to play! Can you imagine? That’s like the whole town, and then some! They came from all over, more than 10 different places, I heard. Just to smack buttons and yell at each other, I guess. Kids these days!
- Over 7.9 million hours watched
- More than 10,000 players
- Street Fighter 6 had over 5,000 entries
- Tekken and Guilty Gear also broke records
- 48% increase in viewership compared to 2022
This whole EVO thing, it’s been goin’ on for a while now. Some fella started it way back when, out of his garage, they say. Now it’s this big to-do, with Sony and all them fancy folks involved. Guess it pays to have folks smackin’ buttons.

They even had some kinda community showcase thingy, with prizes and all. I don’t know the details, but it sounds like a big deal. Folks were winnin’ money and gettin’ their names up in lights. That’s what happens when you’re good at smackin’ buttons, I suppose.
So, yeah, that’s the story of EVO 2024, as best as I can tell ya. Lots of watchin’, lots of playin’, lots of smackin’ buttons. It’s a whole different world these days, I tell ya. But if them folks are havin’ fun, then I guess that’s all that matters.
It’s amazing how many people are interested in watching other people play video games. It’s a new kind of entertainment, I guess. Like watchin’ sports, but with more buttons and flashin’ lights. And they say it’s gettin’ bigger every year. Who knows what it’ll be like next year? Maybe they’ll have even more hours of smackin’ buttons, and even more folks watchin’. It’s a crazy world, I tell ya.
