Alright, alright, lemme tell ya ’bout this Diana Taurasi, the basketball gal. Folks keep jabberin’ about her, sayin’ she’s the best darn player in the whole wide world. Don’t know much about basketball myself, but they say she’s somethin’ special, like a prize-winning hog at the county fair.
Now, they’re makin’ a big fuss ’cause she done took off her clothes for some magazine. ESPN, I think they called it. Said she’s on the cover, naked as a jaybird, ‘cept for a basketball and some scribbles on her skin, what they call tattoos. Imagine that! A grown woman, playin’ ball and then posin’ without her duds. Times sure have changed, I tell ya.
Heard tell there’s two pictures of her. One on the cover, showin’ off her side, and another one inside. Folks are gawkin’ like they never seen a naked body before. Back in my day, we didn’t go around flauntin’ ourselves like that, but I guess that’s what they do now.

- And wouldn’t ya know it, her wife, that’s right, wife, is one of the coaches. They call her Penny Taylor. Two women hitched together, now ain’t that somethin’? Penny used to be hitched to some fella from Brazil, but that didn’t last. Now she’s with Diana. Good for them, I say, long as they’re happy. They got married a while back, in 2017, they say.
This magazine thing, they call it the “Body Issue”. Seems like they do this every year, gettin’ athletes to take off their clothes. I don’t rightly understand it, but folks seem to like it. They say Diana’s showin’ off her “World Championship Body.” Well, I guess if you work hard, you got a right to be proud, even if you’re showin’ it off in a way I ain’t used to.
They keep talkin’ about Diana bein’ the best. Best in the universe, even! That’s a mighty big place, the universe. Bigger than my farm, that’s for sure. But if folks say she’s the best, I guess she must be somethin’ special. Good for her, I say. Work hard, play hard, and if you wanna take off your clothes for a magazine, well, that’s your business.
