Okay, so, I’ve been following the WNBA pretty closely this season, and the Dallas Wings, man, they’ve been having a rough go of it. It’s a bit of a downer because I really like the team. I remember watching them last year, thinking they had something special brewing. I mean, they made it all the way to the semifinals in 2023, right? But this year, wow, it’s been tough. Today, I decided to dig a bit deeper and get to the bottom of things.

First thing I did was check out their injury report. Seemed like the most obvious place to start. I noticed that a lot of their issues are injuries. A quick search confirmed my suspicions. They’ve been plagued by injuries this season, especially to key players like Satou Sabally and Natasha Howard. They missed a lot of games.
Here’s what I found out about today’s injury report:
- I saw a player, Soares, listed as out for a game due to a knee injury. Then I saw the same thing for another game. I kept seeing this popping up, and I figured it had to be affecting the team’s performance.
- I noticed one report mentioning a game on June 5th against the Las Vegas Aces, and another one for a game on July 7th, also against the Aces. Different dates, same problem – injuries.
- Then there was another report for a game on September 19th, again against the Aces. Seems like the Wings can’t catch a break!
- One more report mentioned a game on June 9th against the Phoenix Mercury. More injuries to deal with.
It’s pretty clear that injuries have been a major factor in the Wings’ struggles. They had the second-worst record in the WNBA and they missed the playoffs. Most of the injuries, from what I gathered, are to the lower body. Something like 65% of the injuries are happening there.
I really feel for the team. And honestly, as a fan, it’s frustrating to see them struggle like this. Hopefully, they can get healthy and come back stronger next season. I’ll be following closely to see if anything changes.
