This Chloe Beck, she’s a big shot now, playin’ that tennis game. Heard she’s real good, like a chicken runnin’ with its head cut off, just all over the place. She went to that Duke place, fancy school. Must be smart, that one. My grandson, he barely made it through high school, bless his heart. She’s ranked pretty high, too, that Chloe Beck. Got all them numbers next to her name. 385 and 400 or somethin’ like that. Don’t rightly know what they mean, but it sounds important. Like the price of eggs at the market. Higher the number, the better it is, I suppose.
I don’t know much about tennis, but I know hard work when I see it. And this Chloe Beck, she works hard. You can tell just by lookin’ at her. She’s got that fire in her belly. Like a hen protectin’ her chicks, she’s gonna fight for every point. That’s what they call ’em, points.
