Okay, so I’ve been thinking a lot about the NBA lately, and it got me wondering – who are the best point guards ever? I mean, there have been so many amazing players throughout history, and the point guard, the floor general, you know, they’re the ones running the show.

So, I started digging around, reading articles, watching old game footage, and just soaking up all the basketball history I could. It was a fun time. The deeper I dug, the more I realized how tough it is to rank these guys. You’ve got your incredible passers, your sharpshooters, your defensive stoppers, and everything in between.
I decided to make a list, just for fun. It started small, then I was adding more and more names. Rod Strickland, Jason Kidd, Magic Johnson… man, those names bring back memories! I remember watching some of them when I was a kid, and others I learned about through my research.
After a lot of back and forth, I finally settled on my top 20. Then, I whittled it down to a top 10. I even started thinking about their stats. Like, Jason Kidd, at his best, was a triple-double machine. I remember looking at his stats from his first 12 seasons – nearly 15 points, over 9 assists, and almost 7 rebounds a game. That’s just crazy for a point guard!
And then you’ve got Magic, who many say is the best ever, hands down. There’s really no argument against him.
Compiling this list was quite the journey, let me tell you. It was a cool way to appreciate the history of the game and the amazing talent that’s graced the court. In the end, I think I came up with a pretty solid list, but I’m sure everyone’s got their own opinions, and that’s part of the fun, right?
- Magic Johnson
- Jason Kidd
- Rod Strickland
- …and a bunch of other awesome players!
It’s all subjective, of course, but it was a blast putting it all together. This whole process really made me appreciate the point guard position even more.
