Okay, so I’ve been thinking a lot about basketball lately, and it got me wondering – who are the best point guards ever? It’s a tough question, right? There are so many great players who have run the point over the years.

First I started by making a list of all the point guards I could think of from watching games and highlights. Then I went to work, digging through a ton of old articles and videos. It took me some time, and my room got pretty messy with all the notes and papers everywhere!
I started watching highlights from different eras. It was amazing to see how the game has changed. I watched old footage of, trying to compare their styles and how they controlled the game. Then, I looked at their stats. You know, the usual stuff like points, assists, steals, and all that. But I also looked at how they impacted their teams, their leadership, and their ability to make their teammates better.
After watching and reading a bunch, I started to form some opinions. For example, I realized that someone like Kyrie Irving, even though he’s kind of modest about it, has to be up there. I mean, the guy’s handles are insane, and he can score from anywhere. He might not say it, but he’s gotta be one of the best, at least in the top 15, right?
My Considerations
- Impact: How did they change the game or their team?
- Skill: Dribbling, passing, shooting – how good were they at the basics?
- Leadership: Could they run the show and make everyone around them better?
- Stats: Yeah, the numbers matter, but they’re not everything.
Finally, I put together my own list. It wasn’t easy, and I’m sure not everyone will agree with me. In the end, I managed to come up with a list. It’s not perfect, and I’m still debating a few spots, but it’s a start. It’s wild to think about how many incredible players have played this position. It was tough to narrow it down, and I had to leave off some of my personal favorites, it is a tough choice, but I made it finally! And it’s a list I am happy to share with you guys, and I am happy to see you guys discuss it.
