Alright, alright, let me tell ya ’bout this tennis match, this Andreeva versus Avanesyan thing. Don’t know much ’bout fancy tennis, but I watched it, and I’ll tell ya what I saw.

So, there’s these two gals, Andreeva and Avanesyan. One’s called Erika, the other’s Elina. Sounds foreign, don’t it? They was battlin’ it out on the court, smackin’ that little yellow ball back and forth. I swear, sometimes they hit it so hard, I thought my old TV was gonna break!
First time they played, in Miami I think, Avanesyan, that Elina gal, she whupped Erika good. Six-love in the first set! Can you believe that? Six-love! Like a chicken gettin’ plucked clean. But Erika, she ain’t no quitter, she fought back and won the second set. Then, in the third, Avanesyan just ran away with it. Six-one. Tough loss for Erika, that’s for sure.
But then, these gals, they played again, this time in Iasi, Romania. Heard it on the radio, some fancy tournament. This time, it was a real nail-biter. Andreeva, the younger one, Mirra I think, was playin’ Avanesyan. First set, Avanesyan took it, seven-five. Close, real close. Then, Mirra, she comes back, wins the second set, same score, seven-five. Gutsy, that girl is. Gutsy like a barn cat!
- Miami: Avanesyan won 6-0, 3-6, 6-1.
- Iasi: Andreeva won 5-7, 7-5, 4-0 (Avanesyan retired).
But then, wouldn’t ya know it, Avanesyan, she couldn’t finish. Had to quit in the third set. Four-zero, Mirra was winnin’. Heard tell Avanesyan got hurt or somethin’. Shame, really. Nobody likes to see a match end like that. Mirra, she won, but it wasn’t a clean win, you know? Like beatin’ a tired horse.
Now, there’s another Andreeva, Erika. Seems like a whole family of ’em playin’ tennis. Erika, she played Mirra, her own sister, in Wuhan. Imagine that! Sisters fightin’ each other on the court. Erika, she won that one, pretty easy too. Dropped only four games. Four games! Must be some kinda competition at that dinner table, I tell ya.
So, who’s better, Andreeva or Avanesyan? Well, it ain’t so clear-cut, is it? Avanesyan beat Erika, but then Mirra beat Avanesyan, but then Mirra lost to Erika. It’s like a dog chasin’ its tail. Round and round they go! And that Mirra girl, she’s somethin’ else. Only seventeen and already playin’ like a pro.

This tennis stuff, it’s kinda like life, ain’t it? Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes you gotta quit ’cause you’re hurt. But you just keep on goin’, keep on swingin’, keep on tryin’ to hit that little yellow ball over the net. That’s all you can do.
Anyways, that’s the story as I see it. Two gals, Andreeva and Avanesyan, battlin’ it out. Sometimes one wins, sometimes the other. Who knows what’ll happen next time they play. That’s the fun of it, I guess. Keeps ya guessin’.
And let me tell ya, this WTA rankings thing, it’s important. They say it tells ya who’s the best. But I don’t know, sometimes the rankings don’t mean nothin’. It’s all about who plays better on that particular day, who wants it more.
So, there you have it. My take on this Andreeva versus Avanesyan kerfuffle. Not much, I know, but it’s honest. Just an old woman watchin’ some tennis and tellin’ it like it is.
