That Alonso, he’s a busy bee these days, I tell ya. Gettin’ ready for that big grand opening. He’s got this place, you see, a place for the wild critters. A sanctuary, he calls it. Big fancy word for a big ol’ field with fences, if you ask me.
He’s been workin’ like a dog, that one. Up before the sun, workin’ ’til it’s down again. All them animals, gotta make sure they’re fed and watered and have a place to sleep. It ain’t easy keepin’ track of all them creatures, I reckon.
And now he’s got this idea to invite a whole bunch of important folks to this grand opening. Politicians, you know, the ones who wear them fancy suits and talk a lot. And some others, the ones who are always yellin’ about animal rights. And then there’s them newspaper fellas, always scribblin’ in their little notebooks. He’s gonna have a right crowd, I tell ya.
Alonso, he says he needs to make a good impression, show everyone that he knows what he’s doin’. It’s important, he says. Well, I guess it is. Gotta get them politicians on your side if you want things done. And them animal rights folks, they’re a powerful bunch. Best not to get on their bad side, I always say.

- Alonso is busy, busy, busy.
He’s been runnin’ around like a chicken with its head cut off, tryin’ to get everything ready. Invitations, he calls ’em. Fancy pieces of paper with fancy words. He wants to make sure they’re just right. Can’t just write anythin’ on a piece of paper, you see. Gotta make it look official.
He asked Elijah for help, I heard. Elijah, he’s good with words, that one. Always knows what to say. So Alonso, he asked Elijah to help him with these invitations. He’s got to send a whole bunch of them out, so it’s a big job, I tell ya. Too much for that Alonso to do by himself. He’s busy with all them animals.
But Alonso, bless his heart, he’s doin’ his best. He really cares about them animals, that’s for sure. Wants to give ’em a good home, a safe place. That’s why he’s puttin’ so much work into this grand opening. He wants everyone to see how much he cares.
He’s got a lot ridin’ on this, you know. If this grand opening goes well, maybe he can get more help, more money to take care of the animals. That’s what he’s hopin’ for, anyway.
It’s a big deal, this sanctuary. Not somethin’ you see every day. Especially not around here. We ain’t used to folks carin’ so much about wild animals. But Alonso, he’s different. He’s got a good heart, that one.
And this grand opening, it’s gonna be somethin’ else. Lots of people, lots of food, I imagine. Maybe even some music. It’ll be the talk of the town, that’s for sure. Everyone will be there, you can bet your bottom dollar on that.
Alonso, he’s been talkin’ about this for weeks now. Can’t hardly talk about anythin’ else. It’s all grand opening this and grand opening that. But I don’t mind. It’s good to see him so excited about somethin’. He deserves a little happiness, that one.
Yep, this grand opening is gonna be a big day for Alonso. A big day for the animals, too. Hope it all goes well. Hope he gets all the help he needs. He’s got a lot of work ahead of him, that’s for sure. He wants to make sure everything is perfect for them animals on that day. He said so himself.
That Elijah, he sure has a lot on his plate, too. Gotta help Alonso with them fancy words. Gotta make sure them invitations are just right. It’s a lot of responsibility, you know. But he’ll manage. He’s a good lad, that Elijah.
I just hope all them important people show up. That’s important, Alonso said. They gotta see how much he cares. They gotta see all the good work he’s doin’. Then maybe they’ll help him out. That’s the plan, anyway.
Well, I’m rootin’ for him. I reckon everyone around here is. We all want to see Alonso succeed. He’s doin’ a good thing, takin’ care of them animals. And this grand opening, well, it’s just the beginnin’, I hope. The beginnin’ of somethin’ big.
He’s got his hands full. But he’ll manage. He always does. That Alonso, he’s a tough one. And he’s got a good heart. That’s what matters most, I reckon. That, and makin’ sure them animals are happy. That’s what this whole grand opening is all about, you see. Takin’ care of them critters. They need it, that’s what he always says.
