Alright, let’s talk about them NFL fellas, the ones nobody seems to like. You know, the ones that make you wanna throw your shoe at the TV. Folks got all sorts of reasons for hatin’ these guys, some fair, some maybe not so much. But hey, that’s football, right?
First off, some folks just hate ’em ’cause they make too much money. Yeah, I know, it ain’t right to hate a fella for bein’ successful, but that’s how some folks think. They see these youngins makin’ millions, and they get all riled up. “He ain’t worth that much!” they yell. Well, maybe, maybe not. But that’s what the teams are payin’ ’em, so who am I to judge? It ain’t my money.
Then you got the troublemakers, the ones always gettin’ into trouble outside the field. Drunk drivin’, fightin’, messin’ around with women they shouldn’t…you name it. That stuff don’t sit right with folks. Football players, they supposed to be role models, you know? Especially for the youngins. So when they mess up, people get mad. And they got a right to be, I reckon.
- Like that fella, what’s his name… Deshaun Watson. Folks were real upset with him, that’s for sure. Started back in 2021, I think. Something about messin’ around with women. Heard it all over the news.
- And then there’s that Darren Sharper fella. Folks down in New Orleans, they can’t stand him now. Used to be a good player, hard-hittin’ safety. But somethin’ happened, somethin’ bad. Folks say he’s a “dark spot” in Green Bay history too. Don’t know all the details, but it must be somethin’ awful.
Some players, folks just hate ’em ’cause they think they’re “corny.” Now, I ain’t exactly sure what that means, but it sounds like they just act silly or somethin’. Maybe they talk too much, brag too much, or just rub folks the wrong way. Like that Eli Apple fella, I hear he’s got some haters. Don’t know much about him, but he must’ve done somethin’ to get folks riled up.
And then you got the ones who just ain’t good at football. Yeah, that’s right, some folks hate players just ’cause they stink! They drop passes, miss tackles, make dumb mistakes. Fans, they pay good money to watch these games, and they want to see their team win. So when a player costs ’em the game, they get mad. And they let that player know it, believe you me.
But sometimes, the hate just ain’t fair. Social media, that’s a big part of it. Folks say all sorts of things online, things they wouldn’t dare say to a person’s face. They twist things around, make mountains out of molehills. And sometimes, they just plain lie. It’s hard for a player to defend himself against that kinda stuff.
You know, it ain’t easy bein’ an NFL player. They got a lot of pressure on ’em, from the coaches, the fans, the media…everybody. And they’re just human, just like the rest of us. They make mistakes, they have bad days, they say dumb things. That don’t mean they deserve to be hated.
So next time you’re watchin’ a game and you feel that hate risin’ up inside you, take a deep breath and think about it. Is that player really a bad person? Or are you just caught up in the heat of the moment? Maybe, just maybe, he’s just a fella tryin’ to do his best. And maybe, just maybe, he deserves a little bit of understanding.
It all boils down to this: people hate NFL players for all sorts of reasons. Some reasons are good, some are bad, and some are just plain silly. But at the end of the day, they’re just people. And we should try to remember that.
