Oh boy, let me tell you about the time I dove deep into the 1998 New Orleans Saints. It all started with a lazy Sunday afternoon and a sudden urge to revisit some old-school NFL. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Saints, and that ’98 season… well, it was something.

First, I pulled up some general info about the season. Just to get a feel for what I was getting into, you know? Found some basic stuff, like their overall record, some key players, that sort of thing.
Digging into the Roster
Then, I decided to really dig into the roster. Wanted to see who was playing where, who the big names were. Started jotting down some of the prominent players I recognized. It brought back some memories, I gotta say! Guys like, you know, the quarterback, Billy Tolliver, and they also had Kerry Collins that year. Man, those were some times.
- Billy Tolliver – Remembered him slinging it pretty well, lots of yards, that season.
- Kerry Collins – He had some time at quarterback too.
- Demario Davis, Erik McCoy, Chris Olave – These were some of the top-rated guys, apparently.
Exploring the Stats
Next, I moved on to the stats. Oh boy, the stats. You can really get lost in those numbers! I started looking at both team and individual player stats. Saw that the Saints scored 305 points that year but let in 359. Not the best defense, I guess. But hey, they had some playmakers! The roster had some legendary players as well, names I recognized instantly, like Brees, Rickey Jackson, Morten Andersen – legends, all of them!
Started comparing players, looking at who had the most tackles, interceptions, all that good stuff. Really painted a picture of how the season went, game by game.
Reliving the Season
Then, I figured, why not try to find the schedule? Wanted to see if I could track down the results of each game. And sure enough, I found it! It was like taking a trip back in time. Started going through each game, one by one, seeing who they played, what the scores were. It was a wild ride, a real rollercoaster of a season.
I Spent a good few hours on this, to be honest. But it was worth it. Got a real good understanding of that 1998 Saints team, their strengths, their weaknesses, their ups and downs. Definitely brought back a lot of memories, and it was cool to see how football has changed since then. It seems like this team was coached by Mike Ditka back in ’98. I wrote down some notes about the coaching staff while I was at it.

So yeah, that’s the story of how I ended up spending my Sunday afternoon with the 1998 New Orleans Saints. It was a fun little project, and I learned a thing or two along the way. Maybe next weekend I’ll tackle another season. Who knows!
