Today, I wanna talk about becoming a Mondragon footballer. It’s not about being famous or anything, just about getting better at the game we all love.

Getting Started
First thing I did was look up what makes a good footballer. Turns out, it’s not just about kicking the ball hard. There’s a whole bunch of stuff involved, like dribbling, passing, and controlling the ball. You know, the basics. I even found out about this Colombian player, Carlos Valderrama, who was super good at playmaking. He played for some big teams and was a big deal for Colombia back in the 90s. Inspiring, right?
Practicing the Basics
So, I started with the basics. Every day, I’d go out to the field near my place and just practice.
- Dribbling: I set up some cones and practiced dribbling around them. At first, I was all over the place, but slowly, I got better at controlling the ball.
- Passing: I’d kick the ball against a wall, working on my accuracy and power. My dog, Max, became my unofficial passing partner. He wasn’t very good at passing back, but he sure loved chasing the ball!
- Juggling: This was tough! I started with just a few juggles and kept adding more as I got the hang of it. It’s all about getting a feel for the ball, you know?
- Shooting: I set up a makeshift goal using some old boxes and just practiced shooting from different angles and distances. It felt good when I finally started hitting the target more often.
- Ball Control: I worked on trapping the ball with my feet, chest, and thighs. I wanted to make it so that when that ball was passed to me, I’d be in control no matter what.
It’s a Process
It wasn’t easy. There were days when I felt like I wasn’t getting any better. But I kept at it. I realized that becoming a better footballer isn’t something that happens overnight. It takes time, patience, and a whole lot of practice.
I’m still working on it, still trying to get better each day. It’s a journey, and I’m enjoying every step of it. Even on the tough days. It’s all worth it when I feel that improvement, even if it’s just a little bit.
So that’s my story for now. Just a regular guy, working on his football skills, one step at a time. Hope this maybe inspires someone else to pick up a ball and start practicing too!
