You ask me about them British basketball players in NBA? That’s a mouthful! I know a thing or two, let me tell you.

The British Boys Who Made It Big
See, there ain’t a whole lot of them British fellas playin’ in the NBA. It’s like findin’ a needle in a haystack, I tell ya. But the ones who made it, they’re somethin’ special.
- OG Anunoby, that’s one of ’em. Born in London, that one. Plays for the Toronto Raptors now, heard he’s real good. Big fella, strong as an ox. They say he’s the only one playin’ right now. I heard he plays real good defense. That OG Anunoby, he’s a tough one, I reckon.
- Then there’s that Jeremy Sochan fella. Plays for the San Antonio Spurs. Plays real hard, that one. Heard he’s got some British in him, too. Not many folks know that. He’s young, but he’s learnin’ fast. They say he was real good in college, played for Baylor. They won the whole darn thing!
There used to be another one, Tosan somethin’. But he ain’t playin’ no more, I heard. He got cut from his team, the Detroit Pistons. That’s a shame, but that’s how it goes sometimes. It’s a tough game, that basketball.
Why Ain’t There More?
Now, you might be askin’ yourself, why ain’t there more of these British boys in the NBA? Well, it ain’t easy, that’s for sure. It’s a long road to the top.
First off, basketball ain’t as big over in England as it is here. They’re all about that soccer over there, kickin’ that ball around. It’s their game, you see. So, not as many kids grow up playin’ basketball. It’s like tryin’ to grow corn in the desert. It just ain’t the right place for it.
But you know what they say, practice makes perfect. And these boys, they practiced hard. Real hard. They put in the time, the sweat, the tears. It ain’t easy, I tell ya. It’s a tough game, that basketball. You gotta be strong, fast, and you gotta have that fire in your belly. Those British basketball players in NBA, they got that fire, that’s for sure.
Then you gotta get noticed. You gotta stand out from the crowd. There’s a whole lot of folks tryin’ to make it to the NBA, not just from England, but from all over the world. It’s like a big ol’ competition. And only the best of the best make it. It ain’t for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. Gotta be tough as nails. And these British boys, they proved they were tough enough.

Those Who Came Before
Now, there were some other British fellas who played in the NBA before these young’uns.
- Luol Deng, he was a good one. Played for the Chicago Bulls, mostly. Real good player. He retired a few years back, though.
- There was also Ben Gordon. He could shoot the lights out. Played for the Bulls and the Pistons, if I remember right. He was born in London, too.
- And don’t forget about John Amaechi. Big fella, played center. He was the first British player to start in an NBA game, I believe. He was a pioneer, that one.
They were good players in their day. Paved the way for these young fellas. Showed ’em it could be done. They’re the ones who planted the seeds, you see. And now these new British basketball players in NBA are harvestin’ the fruit.
It’s a Tough Game
But like I said, it ain’t easy. It’s a tough game, that basketball. You gotta be dedicated. You gotta work hard. You gotta have that drive to succeed. And these British basketball players in NBA, they got it. They got that drive. They got that fire. They put a lot of effort in practicing, I know it! They got what it takes to make it in the big leagues.
They got to play good to get selected to a good college. That’s where all the big teams are lookin’ at you. Playin’ good in college is how you get to the NBA, you see. You gotta show them what you can do. You gotta prove you’re good enough.
And you know what? I’m proud of ’em. I really am. They came from across the pond, from a place where basketball ain’t the king. And they made it. They made it to the NBA. They’re playin’ with the best of the best. And they’re holdin’ their own. They’re showin’ the world what British basketball is all about. They are some of the best British basketball players in NBA, I know it.

So next time you’re watchin’ an NBA game, keep an eye out for those British boys. They might not be many, but they’re there. And they’re makin’ their mark. They’re showin’ the world that they belong. And that’s somethin’ to be proud of, I reckon.
They are good boys, workin’ hard. It ain’t easy to get to the NBA, you know. They put in a lot of work. I am proud of those boys. You should be too.
