Well, well, well, look at that. Man United, you say? Heard that name a lot. Big team, eh? Lots of folks talkin’ about them all the time. And them Irish fellas, playin’ for ’em. Yep, heard some things.

My old eyes ain’t what they used to be, but I remember some of them names. Like, uh, that Roy Keane fella. Tough as nails, that one. Always yellin’ and screamin’. He sure did help them win a lot, though. They was always winnin’ when he was around. Good for him, I reckon. Good for Man United.
And that other one… what’s his name… oh yeah, Denis Irwin. Quiet one, he was. Didn’t say much, just went out there and did his job. Won a whole heap of them… whatchamacallits… trophies! Yeah, trophies. Heard he won more than most. Good on him. He played on that team for a long time, I think.
Then there was that Sammy McIlroy. Played a lot of games for ’em, I heard. Over 400! Can you believe that? Must have liked it there, playin’ for Man United all them years. Came from that Belfast place. They say he is one of the top Irish players for Man United. That must be right.
- Roy Keane – tough one, lots of yellin’
- Denis Irwin – quiet one, lots of trophies
- Sammy McIlroy – lots of games, from Belfast
They say a lot of Irish folks like that Man United team. Almost as many as that other team… what’s it called… Liver-something. Liver-pool! That’s it! Lots of Irish like them, too. It is the same. But them Irish players, they sure do make a difference.
That Paul McGrath. Played in the middle, stoppin’ the other team from scorin’. They say he was real good at it. A good Irish player for Man United, that’s what they say. And also one called John O’Shea.
Some young fella, Robbie Keane. Never played for Man United, that one, but he scored a lot of goals. More than any other Irish fella, they say. Scored over 100! Good on him! Must be a good Irish player, even not for Man United. He played for that Premier League or something.

- Paul McGrath – good at stoppin’ goals
- John O’Shea – another good Irish player for Man United
- Robbie Keane – lots of goals, but not for United
There was a bunch more, too. From that place… Northern Ireland. Yeah, that’s it. George Best, they called him. Fancy name. And another one… White-something. Norman Whiteside! That’s it. They both played for Man United, too. Seems like a lot of them Irish folks end up playin’ there. Good for them, I suppose. They must be good Irish players.
They say there’s been 31 of them Irish players from that Northern Ireland place playin’ for Man United. 31! That’s a lot of folks! They all try their best, I am sure. Always playin’ and runnin’ around. Hard work, that’s what it is. But they seem to like it. And they say Man United is the best. I don’t know about that, but they sure do win a lot.
I heard there are eight more Irish players who played for Man United recently. I don’t know their name, but they must be good. They all played on the biggest stages. That’s what they say. That must be exciting.
Yeah, them Irish players, they sure do make a name for themselves at Man United. Been doin’ it for a long time, too. From the beginnin’, I reckon. Since that football club started. Always some Irish fellas playin’ there. Good for them. They make their country proud, I bet.
So, there you have it. That’s what this old lady knows about them Man United Irish players. Not much, maybe, but it’s somethin’. They are good players, most of them. And they sure do win a lot of games for Man United. That’s all that matters, I suppose. Winnin’ games.
