That UNC women’s soccer, they sure are somethin’. They got this coach, what’s his name? Damon Nahas, yeah, that’s the one. He’s the big cheese now, the head honcho, you know? Heard he just got that job for good. They call him the “permanent head coach” now, fancy that.
They say this fella led them to win that big ol’ championship. Twenty-third one, can you believe it? Twenty-three! That’s more championships than I got fingers and toes! And they just won it this past Monday, fresh off the win. That’s somethin’ to hoot and holler about, I tell ya.
Now, before this Damon, there was another fella, Anson something. Anson Dorrance. He was the coach for a long, long time. Like, a hundred years, almost, from the way folks talk about it. He must be older than dirt! He won a whole heap of them championships, too. They say he got, like, 21 or 22 of ’em. That’s a lot of shiny trophies, I reckon.
Heard this Dorrance fella finally decided to hang up his hat. Took a vacation, they say. Must be nice to just go off and relax after all them years of hollerin’ at them girls. Forty-five years, Lord have mercy! He was makin’ a pretty penny too. They say he got paid more than $230,000. That’s more money than I’ve seen in my whole life. He’s got some deal with that Nike, and some other bonuses that add up to a lot.
But now it’s all about this Damon fella. This Damon Nahas, he’s the one to watch now. Seems like he knows what he’s doin’, leadin’ them girls to victory like that. He’s the “interim” coach no more. They took that “interim” right off. Now he’s just the regular, full-time, head coach. They made it official. Big job, leadin’ them UNC women’s soccer players. Big responsibility.

I heard some folks sayin’ this Damon, he’s the second coach ever to win that big championship in his first year. First year! Can you imagine? Comin’ in and winnin’ it all right off the bat. That’s like findin’ a twenty dollar bill in your old overalls! He must be somethin’ special, that Damon.
They say this Bubba Cunningham, he’s the big boss man at UNC. He’s the one who gave Damon the job. He’s been busy hirin’ folks, they say. Must be a lot of work, bein’ in charge of all them sports teams. But seems like he made a good choice with this Damon fella.
And this Damon, he seems like a family man, too. Saw a picture of him with his family, all smilin’ after they won. That’s nice to see. A good coach and a family man. That’s the way it oughta be.
So, yeah, that UNC women’s soccer team, they’re doin’ alright. Got a new coach, this Damon Nahas. Won a big championship. Seems like they’re in good hands. We’ll see what happens next year. Maybe they’ll win another one! Wouldn’t that be somethin’? Twenty-four championships! That’d be more than I could count on my fingers, toes, and then some!
Well, anyway, that Damon Nahas, he got a number you can call, if you need him. It starts with 919. But that is all I know about that. But I don’t think I will need it. I am sure they are all busy over there.
This UNC women’s soccer team, they are always in the news, winning and such. You can not miss them! I think they will do just fine with this new coach. It is all anyone is talking about in town these days. They are the talk of the town!
This Damon is young, though, compared to that Anson. I bet he has a lot of new ideas. Maybe he will teach them girls some new tricks. Who knows, maybe they will win even more now. They say change is good, sometimes. And 23 is a lot, but why stop there? They might just win 23 more with this new fella in charge. They are the best around, these UNC women’s soccer players, everyone knows that.
