Well, let me tell ya, I been watchin’ them Packers boys for a long time. Seen a lot of fellas come and go, runnin’ that ball. Some good, some not so good. This here’s ’bout them former running backs, the ones who used to tote that pigskin for the green and gold.

Now, you gotta understand, football ain’t what it used to be. These days, they throw the ball all over the place. But back in the day, it was all about runnin’. And them Packers, they had some real good running backs. Real good ones. They could run like a scalded dog.
I remember this one fella, they called him, uh, what was his name now? Ah, yeah, they called him Josh Jacobs. He just be here, and he done gone to another team. Oh, well. He runned good. He was up against them Bears, you know, and they won, 20 to 19, I think it was. Close game, that one. This was recent, mind you. Not back in the old days.
See, they keep track of all these boys, you know? All them running backs. Like, who was the best, who runned the most, who scored the most touchdowns. I don’t rightly know how they figure it all out, but they do. They got these fancy websites and all that. I seen ’em. They talk about “stat muse” and all that gibberish. They got all the numbers. My old eyes can barely see ’em.
They say the Packers been playin’ since, oh, way back when. 1921, I reckon. That’s a long time ago, way before my time, even. So you know they had a whole bunch of running backs in all them years. They called a “professional American football team”. Sounds important, don’t it?
They do all this trainin’ too, gettin’ ready for the season. They call it “training camp.” Like they’re goin’ off to war or somethin’. They run and they lift and they sweat. All that to play a game. But folks sure do love watchin’ it, I’ll give ’em that. They got this place called Dairyland, where they talk about it all the time.
So, who was the best? Well, that’s a tough one. They had some real bruisers back in the day. They had fellas that could run through a brick wall. Some was fast, some was strong, some was both. It’s hard to say who was the best of them all. Each one had their own special way of runnin’, ya know?

- There was this one time…
- …I think it was back in… well, never you mind when it was…
- …this running back, he was somethin’ else.
- He runned right through the whole other team…
- …like they weren’t even there!
- Scored a touchdown, he did.
- Whole crowd went wild!
They got this list, you know, of the top 10 running backs. I seen it somewhere. I don’t remember all the names, but there was some good ones on there. They rank ’em, you see. Like a contest. Who’s number one, who’s number two, and all that. They been doin’ it for years, they say. Pickin’ the best of the best.
Back in 2010, they had a few. Let’s see, there was Brandon Jackson, he was one. And Korey Hall, he was another one. And then there was this other fella named Quinn Johnson. Yeah, that’s right, Quinn Johnson. They all played for the Packers that year, runnin’ that ball. Former running backs, they all are now. Time sure does fly, don’t it?
These boys, they come from all over. Different towns, different states. They come to Green Bay, that’s where the Packers play, in Wisconsin. It’s cold up there, I hear. Real cold. But they play football anyway. Tough fellas, them football players.
So, yeah, them Packers, they had a lot of good running backs over the years. Some famous, some not so famous. But they all played hard, and they all gave it their best. And that’s all you can really ask for, ain’t it? Just doin’ your best.
It’s like plantin’ seeds, you know? You gotta put in the work if you want somethin’ to grow. These boys, they put in the work. They run and they train and they play their hearts out. And the fans, they love ’em for it. They cheer and they holler and they wear them green and gold colors. It’s a sight to see, I tell ya.
Well, I reckon that’s about all I got to say about them Packers and their former running backs. It’s been a long time, and my memory ain’t what it used to be. But I remember them days, watchin’ them boys run. It was somethin’ special, it really was. Football might change, but one thing’s for sure, them Packers will always have good running backs. They always do. They got a knack for findin’ ’em, I reckon.
