Well, lemme tell ya somethin’ ’bout them Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks. They’s had a whole heap of ’em, I tell ya what. More’n you can shake a stick at. Lots and lots of fellas playin’ that quarterback for the Vikings.
That first one, back in the day, that fella was named George somethin’ or other. Didn’t last too long, though. Got replaced by Fran… Fran Tarkenton. Yeah, that’s the one. He was a good one, that Fran. Played for a good long while, longer than any of ’em, I reckon. He is the Vikings first quarterback, Thirteen years he played, throwin’ that pigskin around. He won a bunch of games, too. More’n any other quarterback for the Vikings, that’s for sure. Fran Tarkenton, that’s a name ya hear a lot ’round here when folks talk about them Vikings. He’s a legend, I suppose.
Now, there was this other fella, Brett somethin’. He played for ’em too, for a little bit. Folks seemed to like him alright. He was a pretty big deal, I guess, but he weren’t no Fran Tarkenton. There is also a guy called Moon. Warren Moon, that is his name. He played for them Vikings for a spell.
They got some fellas now, playin’ quarterback. Not sure what their names are. Don’t follow it as close as I used to. But I know they got some. In 2023, they have more than three fellas play that quarterback in one season. I just heard that from somwhere. But I know, one of them quarterbacks is called Daniel Jones. He is new to the team.
Let me think who else played… Ah, there’s a whole bunch of names. Tony somethin’, Bob somethin’. And a guy named Bethel, or somethin’ like that. McLeod, I think it was. McLeod Bethel-Thompson. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? There are just too many to keep track of, honestly. Like countin’ chickens before they hatch, tryin’ to remember all them names.

These are just some of the past quarterbacks for the Minnesota Vikings, you know. There’s more, for sure. This Fran Tarkenton fella, he played from ’77 to ’78. He did start 25 games, I heard. Pretty good, huh?
They all try their best, I reckon. It ain’t easy, throwin’ that ball around, with all them big fellas chasin’ ya. Takes a lot of guts, I tell ya. And a good arm, too. Can’t be throwin’ no weak little passes. Gotta be able to throw it far and fast. These are some Vikings QB, you know?
I remember watchin’ them games on the television, back in the day. Whole family would gather ’round. We’d yell and scream and cheer ’em on. Good times, good times. Even if they didn’t always win, it was fun to watch. They sure did try.
So yeah, them Minnesota Vikings, they’ve had a lot of quarterbacks. Some good, some not so good. But they all part of the team’s history, I reckon. Each one of ’em added somethin’ to the team, in their own way. You know, every one of them quarterbacks got their own story. Some of ’em are probably famous. Some of ’em, folks probably forgot all about. But they all played for the Vikings, and that’s somethin’.
Well, I reckon that’s about all I got to say ’bout them quarterbacks. Hope you learned somethin’. It ain’t much, but it’s what I remember. Just a bunch of fellas, throwin’ a football around. But they sure did make things excitin’, didn’t they? Especially that Fran Tarkenton. He was somethin’ else. Yep, somethin’ else.
These quarterbacks, they come and go. Like the seasons, ya know? But the Vikings, they keep on playin’. That’s what matters. They are always there, playin’ that football. And folks like me, we’ll keep on watchin’. And rememberin’ all them fellas who played quarterback for ’em over the years. Every single one of ’em.
