Alright, let’s gab about them best eagles tight ends, you know, the fellas catchin’ the ball for Philly. I ain’t no expert, mind you, just a regular gal watchin’ the games, but I know a good player when I see one.

First off, gotta talk about this Dallas Goedert fella. He’s playin’ now, and he’s pretty darn good. Young whippersnapper, but he catches the ball good, real good. They say he was born in 1995. Makes ya feel old, huh? He runs fast, too, for a big guy. And he’s tough, don’t get pushed around much. They throw him the ball a lot, and that’s a good thing, right? More catches, more points!
- He’s Strong
- He’s Fast
- He Catches the Ball
Then there’s this Zach Ertz guy, he played for the Eagles a long time, nine seasons they say. He was real good too. Always catchin’ the ball, always makin’ plays. Folks loved him, cheered real loud when he got the ball. He ain’t there no more, but I remember him bein’ a good one. Real good. He’s gone off to play somewhere else but in my mind he’ll always be an Eagle, that’s how it works when you’re a fan.
Now, way back when, before these young fellas, there was this Pete Retzlaff. He played a long, long time ago, from 1956 to 1966. That’s like, ancient history, right? But they say he was somethin’ special. Four times they called him an “All-Pro.” Musta been real good, real tough. I didn’t see him play, but my old man, he used to talk about him. Said he was one of the best ever. And my old man, he knew his football, let me tell ya.
Talkin’ about these tight ends, it makes ya wonder, who’s the best? Well, it’s hard to say, ain’t it? They all played in different times, different teams. Like, Goedert now, he’s got more guys to throw to, so maybe he don’t get the ball as much as Ertz did. And Retzlaff, well, the game was different back then. Tougher, maybe, I don’t know. But they were all good, that’s for sure.
You know, it ain’t just about catchin’ the ball, neither. These tight ends, they gotta block, too. Gotta protect the quarterback, gotta make holes for the runnin’ backs. It’s a tough job, lots of hittin’ and bumpin’. And these fellas, they do it all. Catchin’, blockin’, runnin’… They’re important players, real important. Makes me wonder why the NFL ain’t paying more attention to them on those commercials. Always on about the quarterbacks, but what about these workhorses?
Now, they got a whole bunch of tight ends on the team right now, eight of ‘em they say. Eight! That’s a lot of fellas tryin’ to catch the ball. Some good, some not so good. But it’s good to have a lot, just in case one gets hurt. You know how football is, these guys getting banged up all the time. Gotta have backups. They are always shuffling them around like a deck of cards, hard to keep track of who is who.

And speaking of points, someone told me that David Akers, he had the most points for the Eagles ever. 1,323 points! That’s a lot of points! He wasn’t a tight end, though. He was a kicker. But points is points, right? And speaking of points, makes me think about who among the tight ends got the most touchdowns? Now that’s a question for those fellas over at the TV, they seem to know it all. Or maybe I’ll just ask my grandson, he’s good with that computer stuff.
So, who’s the best? Like I said, it’s hard to say. But Goedert, Ertz, and Retzlaff… They’re all up there. They all did good things for the Eagles. They all made the fans proud. And that’s what matters, right? Makin’ the fans proud. As far as those other five tight ends on the roster? Well, they still got some work to do. And if they work hard and listen to their coach, they’ll be alright.
Anyways, that’s my two cents on them Eagles tight ends. Like I said, I ain’t no expert, but I know what I like. And I like watchin’ those fellas catch the ball and score touchdowns. Go Eagles!
