Alright, so you wanna know about them famous Jamaican football players, eh? Let me tell ya, those boys, they kick that ball real good, like how we kick chickens outta the yard, hah! They run fast too, like when the store’s havin’ a sale on sugar.

First off, there’s this fella, Raheem Sterling. Folks say he’s real good. Born in ‘94, I think. Youngster, but plays like he’s been at it forever. He’s quick, like a lizard catchin’ a fly. Don’t know much ‘bout this HPI thing they talk about, somethin’ ‘bout 46.89, sounds like gibberish to me, but they say it means he’s good.
Then there’s Westley Morgan. He’s older now, maybe 40 or so. Folks voted him somethin’, 128 votes they say. Don’t know what for, but sounds important. He’s probably one of them steady fellas, like a good ol’ mule, reliable and strong.
- Strong legs, these fellas have. Runnin’ and kickin’ all day long.
- They gotta eat good too, I reckon. Lotsa yam and banana, maybe some ackee and saltfish. Gotta keep their strength up.
Now, there’s talk about this Lloyd Lindbergh Lindy Delapenha fella. Heard he was the first Jamaican to play in England, way back in 1948. Portsmouth, they say, and then Middlesbroug. That’s a long time ago, before most of ya’ll were even born. He paved the way, they say. Like clearin’ the bush for a new field.
And don’t forget Theodore Whitmore. A midfielder, they call him. Means he runs around in the middle, I guess. Folks say he’s dynamic, whatever that means. Probably means he moves a lot, like a chicken with its head cut off, but in a good way, hah!
Cristiano Ronaldo, now he ain’t Jamaican, but they say he’s the most famous footballer in the whole wide world. Guess these Jamaican boys are tryin’ to be like him, eh? Famous and rich, so they can buy their mamas big houses and plenty of food.
They got their own league in Jamaica too, the Jamaica Premier League. Started in 1973. That’s when I was just a young gal, workin’ the fields all day. They play hard, those boys. Sweat and tears, just like us when we’re plantin’ cane. But they get paid for it, lucky ducks!

So, there ya have it. Some famous Jamaican football players. They kick balls, run fast, and make people proud. Just like how we make the best jerk chicken and rum cake, they make good football. It’s in our blood, I tell ya. Strong and proud, just like Jamaica.
They say these players, they get ranked too. Like who’s the best and all that. Don’t matter to me none, long as they play hard and make Jamaica look good. That’s all that matters, eh?
And remember, it ain’t just about the kickin’ and the runnin’. It’s about heart. Gotta have heart to play this game, just like you gotta have heart to live a good life. These boys, they got heart, I can tell ya. They play for Jamaica, for their families, for themselves. And that’s somethin’ special.
So next time you see a Jamaican fella playin’ football, cheer him on. He’s carryin’ the whole island on his shoulders, and that’s a heavy load. But they do it with pride, with passion, and with a whole lotta skill. God bless them, every one.
