Alright, let’s gab about these football fellas, the quarterbacks, you know, the ones throwing the ball around. Folks keep hollerin’ ‘bout who’s the best, the “hottest” one right now. Hot, cold, makes no difference to me long as they throw the ball good, ain’t that right?
Now, I hear tell some folks think this Jared Goff fella is somethin’ special. Say he’s playin’ real good, team’s winnin’ and all. Well, good for him, I say. Winnin’ games is what matters, not all that fancy talk the fellas on the TV do. They use all them big words, I just wanna see the ball go where it needs to go.
Then there’s all this talk about rankin’ ‘em. Rankin’ this and rankin’ that. They got these fellas, like this Orlovsky guy, makin’ lists about who’s good at what. Accuracy, they say. Ant…anti… whatever that word is, you know, throwin’ before the fella even gets there. Footwork, like dancin’ but with a football. Pocket presence, that’s stayin’ put when them big fellas try to knock ya down. Athleticism, runnin’ and jumpin’, I guess. Decision makin’, throwin’ to the right fella, not the other team. And mental toughness, bein’ strong in the head, not gettin’ all flustered.

- Footwork – Movin’ them feet right.
- Pocket Presence – Standin’ strong.
- Athleticism – Runnin’ if ya gotta.
- Decision Making – Throwin’ smart.
- Mental Toughness – Bein’ strong-headed.
Seems like a lot, don’t it? But I reckon if you wanna be the best, you gotta have all that and more. You gotta be tough, smart, and lucky, too. Luck’s a big part of it, don’t let nobody tell you different.
They got all these numbers too, QBR this, adjusted that. I ain’t got no time for all them numbers. Just tell me, can the fella throw the ball? Can he win games? That’s all I care about. You can have all the fancy stats you want, but if you ain’t winnin’, you ain’t the hottest, that’s for sure.
Some folks talk about passing yards, how far the ball goes. Some talk about completions, how many times the fella catches the ball. Some talk about attempts, how many times they throw it. All that matters, sure, but like I said, winnin’ is what counts. You can throw it a mile, but if the other team catches it, what good is it?
So, who’s the hottest? I dunno. Seems like it changes every week. One week it’s this fella, next week it’s another. It’s all a bunch of hooey if you ask me. Just watch the games, enjoy the show, and don’t get too caught up in all the talk. They’re all good players, these quarterbacks, makin’ more money than I ever seen in my life. They should just go out there and play, and let us folks enjoy the game.
This year, seems like some fellas are doin’ better than others. But things change fast in football. A fella can be on top one week, and on the bottom the next. That’s just how it goes. Injuries happen, teams figure you out, it’s a tough business. So, enjoy it while it lasts, ’cause you never know what tomorrow brings.
Anyways, that’s my two cents on these quarterbacks. They’re all good, some are better than others on any given day, and winnin’ is what matters most. Don’t let them TV fellas fool ya with all their fancy talk and numbers. Just watch the game and enjoy it, that’s what I say.
And one more thing, don’t forget about them fellas catchin’ the ball and the fellas blockin’ them big guys from knockin’ the quarterback down. It takes a whole team to win, not just one fella. But that’s a story for another day, I reckon.
