Well, let me tell you about this here MSI 2024. It’s some kind of big-shot computer game thing, League of Legends they call it. All these young folks gather ’round and watch them characters battle it out on the screen. Sounds like a whole lotta fuss to me, but hey, they seem to like it.
Now, they got all sorts of numbers and stats for this thing, just like countin’ eggs or somethin’. They talk about “win rates” and “KDA” and I ain’t got a clue what that means. Sounds fancy though. They say some characters get picked more than others, like this “Vi” gal. Apparently, she’s so good they gotta ban her sometimes, like 22 times they say! Imagine that, banned from a game. Kids these days…
- They had this shindig in some place called Chengdu, China. Far away, that is. Musta cost a pretty penny to get all them folks over there.
- And they played a whole bunch of games, like 78 of ’em. That’s a lot of sittin’ around and starin’ at a screen if you ask me.
- They even had prizes and money and stuff. Fifty thousand dollars they say! That’s enough to buy a whole lotta chickens.
This whole thing is called the Mid-Season Invitational. Sounds important, like a town meeting or somethin’. But ‘stead of talkin’ ’bout crops and taxes, they’re battlin’ with these made-up characters. They got teams from all over the world, seems like. And they fight and fight until there’s one team left standin’. Then they get a trophy and all the glory, I guess.
They got all sorts of numbers, see. Like how many times a character gets picked, or how many times they win. They call it “player statistics” and “champion statistics”. Sounds like somethin’ a teacher would say. But it’s all about this game, this League of Legends.
I heard tell they had a lot of folks watchin’ too. “Peak viewers” they call it. Like watchin’ a big ol’ firework show, I reckon. But ‘stead of pretty lights in the sky, it’s these characters fightin’ on the screen.
They also got these “top performers”. The best of the best, I suppose. Like the folks who win the pie-eatin’ contest at the county fair. Only ‘stead of pie, it’s this computer game. And they get all the attention, and folks cheer for ’em. It’s a whole to-do, lemme tell ya.
Now, this MSI thing, it happens in the middle of the season, they say. Between the first and second “splits”. Sounds like splittin’ wood, but it ain’t. It’s just how they divide up the game season. And the best teams from all over the world get to come and play. It’s a big deal, apparently.
And this Vi character, she’s somethin’ else. Always gettin’ picked or banned. Must be powerful, like a good ol’ workhorse. They got other characters too, 88 of ’em they say. That’s a whole army of them little computer folks.
So, that’s the gist of it, this MSI 2024. A whole lotta fuss over a computer game. But hey, if it keeps them young’uns outta trouble, I ain’t complainin’. Just sounds like a lot of noise and numbers to this old gal.
Anyway, they keep track of everything. Wins, losses, who they pick to play, who they don’t want to play against. It’s like keepin’ score at a baseball game, but way more complicated. They even have fancy charts and graphs, I bet. Makes my head spin just thinkin’ about it.
But the youngsters, they love it. They cheer and shout and get all worked up over these games. It’s a different world, I tell ya. Back in my day, we had to make our own fun. But hey, times change, I guess. And if this is what they enjoy, well, more power to ’em.
So, there you have it. My take on this MSI 2024 thing. Probably didn’t make much sense, but that’s how it goes. Just a bunch of numbers and games and young folks havin’ a good time. And that ain’t such a bad thing, is it?
