Alright, so you wanna know about them popular white basketball fellas, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, back in my days, we didn’t have all this fancy TV stuff. We just listened to the games on the radio, cracklin’ and all. But some names, they stick with ya, you know?

First off, that Larry Bird fella. He was somethin’ else, I tell ya. Folks said he played like he was born with a ball in his hands. Passin’, shootin’, he could do it all. And tough as nails, too! Reminded me of my ol’ mule, always workin’ hard and never givin’ up. He was white, and lemme tell ya, back then, seein’ a white fella play like that, it was somethin’ special. Folks just loved him, even if they wasn’t from his town.
Then there was… what’s his name… oh yeah, John Stockton. Not flashy, but steady as a rock. He passed that ball like nobody’s business. And them short shorts! My goodness, they were somethin’ else. Always playin’ with that Karl Malone fella, them two was a team, like peas in a pod, you know?
- Larry Bird: Tough as nails, could do it all.
- John Stockton: Steady as a rock, great passer.
Now, these young fellas, they’re somethin’ else. All that runnin’ and jumpin’! I can’t keep up with all their names. But I hear tell of this Kevin Love fella. He’s white, and they say he’s pretty good. I seen him play a bit on that TV thing my grandson got. He can shoot, that’s for sure. And he’s got them tattoos, just like all the young fellas these days. Times sure have changed.
But you know, it ain’t just about bein’ white or black or whatever. It’s about playin’ hard and havin’ heart. That’s what makes a good basketball player, in my book. You gotta be willin’ to put in the work, day in and day out. Just like farmin’, you can’t expect a good crop if you ain’t gonna plow the field and plant the seeds, right?
And these fellas, they practice all the time, I hear. Runnin’ and liftin’ weights and all that. It’s a tough life, but they get paid a whole lot of money for it. More money than I ever seen in my whole life, that’s for sure. Back in my day, you played for the love of the game, not for the money. But I guess that’s just how things are now.
There’s also this… uh… Gordon Hayward fella. I seen him play a time or two. He’s tall and lanky, kinda like that scarecrow I used to have in my garden. But he can shoot the ball, that’s for sure. And he seems like a nice young man, not all loud and flashy like some of them others.

Then there’s… shoot, I can’t remember all their names. There’s so many of ‘em! But the thing is, them white fellas, they gotta work extra hard, I think. ‘Cause basketball, it’s mostly… well, you know… not so many white fellas playin’ these days. So when you see one that’s good, you kinda take notice, you know?
And it ain’t just about the NBA, neither. There’s college ball, and even high school ball. There’s good players everywhere, you just gotta look for ‘em. And it don’t matter what color they are, long as they play hard and play fair. That’s what my pappy always told me, and it’s true, I reckon.
So yeah, them popular white basketball players, they’re somethin’ special. They work hard and they play hard. And they give folks somethin’ to cheer about. And that’s a good thing, I think. In this world, we need all the good things we can get, that’s for sure.
One more thing, there was that Steve Nash fella. He wasn’t American, I don’t think. But he was white and he could play! Passin’ the ball all over the place, quick as a hiccup. He played a long time ago, I reckon. My memory ain’t what it used to be, you know. But I remember him bein’ good.
Anyways, that’s all I got to say about them basketball fellas. They’re good players, all of ‘em. And they make the game excitin’ to watch. Even for an old lady like me.
