Well, let me tell you about this Tekken thing, you know, like that fighting game everyone’s yappin’ about. It’s called Tekken 8, fancy name, huh? I heard it’s comin’ out on them PlayStations and Xboxes and even those computer thingies on January 26th, 2024. That’s what the young’uns told me, anyway. They say it looks real pretty, all new and shiny, like them fancy cars they drive in the city. They call it “next-gen visuals,” whatever that means.

Now, this Tekken, it ain’t just a game, it’s a whole to-do. They got these tournaments, see? Big ones, they call ’em Tekken World Tour 2024. Sounds grand, don’t it? Like a circus comin’ to town, but instead of clowns, you got fellas beatin’ the snot outta each other on the screen. They got rules and all, gotta keep it fair, I guess. You can find them rules online, somewhere, if you’re into that kinda thing.
And the prizes! Lordy, they give away a whole heap of money. I heard someone won 300,000 dollars! Can you believe that? That’s more money than I’ve seen in my whole life! And that ain’t all, the whole pot is a million dollars! They give it to the best players, the ones who know how to punch and kick real good, I reckon. They got these “characters” they play, each one different, like them folks you see at the market, all shapes and sizes. Strong ones, fast ones, some that look like devils, some that look like angels, you name it.
- They got this Ulsan fella, he won a big one. Got himself a nice chunk of change, too.
- And they got these different levels of tournaments, “Master Plus,” “Master,” and “Challenger,” like different sizes of pies, I suppose.
Seems complicated, to be honest. All these points and leaderboards and rankings, makes my head spin. But the young’uns, they understand it. They follow these tournaments, watch the matches, cheer for their favorite players. They even got websites where you can see all the schedules and who’s winnin’ and who’s losin’. DashFight, they call one of ’em. You can track all the fights there, they say.
Thirty-two fighters they say, all in this new game. That’s a lot of folks, sounds like a whole town gettin’ together for a brawl. I don’t know half these characters, but the young’uns, they know ’em all. They know their moves, their strengths, their weaknesses. They talk about it all day long, like it’s the most important thing in the world.
This Tekken 8, it’s a big deal, they tell me. It’s on them new PlayStation 5 thingamajigs, and only on them. Must be powerful machines, to handle all that fightin’. Unreal Engine 5, they call it. Sounds like something out of a science fiction movie. But hey, as long as they’re havin’ fun, I guess it’s alright. Just don’t understand why they gotta beat each other up, even if it’s just on a screen. But that’s just this old lady talkin’, pay no mind.
And these tournaments, they’re all over the place, it seems. Different cities, different countries. The best players travel around, competin’ for the big bucks. It’s a whole world, this Tekken world. And I’m just sittin’ here, watchin’ from the sidelines, shakin’ my head and wonderin’ what the world’s comin’ to. But hey, it keeps them busy, I suppose. Better than gettin’ into trouble, right? And who knows, maybe one of these days, I’ll even try playin’ it myself. But don’t hold your breath, it’s likely to be a cold day in July before that happens.

So, if you’re lookin’ for when these Tekken matches are happenin’, just go look it up online. They got all the schedules and dates and times listed somewhere. Like I said, it’s a whole to-do, this Tekken business. But the kids love it, and that’s all that matters, I reckon.
