Alright, listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about some basketball today, the kind them fellas play in the NBA. Folks keep jabberin’ about the best players, and there’s this one fella, always pops up, name of Larry Bird.
Now, I ain’t no expert, mind you. I just watch the games on that there TV sometimes when the chores are done and the chickens are fed. But even I know Larry Bird was somethin’ special. They say he’s the best white player ever in the NBA. That’s what folks say, and I reckon they ain’t lyin’.
This Larry Bird fella, he played a long time ago, back in the day. He wasn’t no flashy dunker or nothin’, but he could shoot that ball like nobody’s business. Swish! Every time, mostly. And he was tough as nails, too. Didn’t back down from nobody.
They tell me he won all sorts of things. Championships, they call ’em. And MVPs? Whatever them are. Sounds important, though. He musta been real good, this Larry Bird. Folks still talkin’ about him, even after all these years. Makes you think, don’t it?
Now, there’s been other white players, sure. I heard tell of some fellas like Jerry West and Dirk Nowitzki. Big fellas, most of ’em. And some new guys, too. That Luka Doncic fella, and that Nikola Jokic. They say they’re pretty good, but ain’t nobody like Larry Bird, not yet anyway.

Nowadays, there ain’t many white fellas playin’ in the NBA, compared to the black fellas, that is. I heard someone sayin’ on the TV that most of ’em are black. Seventy percent, or somethin’ like that. White fellas? Not so many. Maybe seventeen percent, they said. Don’t know why that is, but that’s what they said.
But still, some white fellas are makin’ a name for themselves. That Porzingis fella, he’s tall as a beanpole. And that Gordon Hayward, he seems alright. And that Kevin Love, he’s been around a while. Good players, all of ’em, but like I said, ain’t nobody like Larry Bird.
So, if you ask me, who’s the best white NBA player? It’s gotta be Larry Bird. No question about it. He’s the one everyone talks about, the one they all compare the others to. He set the bar high, that’s for sure. And I reckon it’ll be a long time before anyone comes along and knocks him off that perch.
It’s funny, you know? All these years later, and we’re still talkin’ about this Larry Bird. Musta been somethin’ real special. And that’s all I gotta say about that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on them biscuits in the oven.
In conclusion, while there have been many good white players in the NBA, both past and present, Larry Bird remains the gold standard. He’s the best, plain and simple. And that’s just the way it is.
